Interim Children’s Area

Ruth Hayes often says she can’t wait for phase 2 of the new Mendon Public Library, because the renovation plan includes transforming our historic 1936 library into a children’s room that preserves the red door and the knotty pine, while creating a new loft space and lots of places for little ones to cozy in and read.

In the meantime, the area shown in this photo will be one of the spaces for children. Glass panes will connect the top of the half wall to the ceiling. Once the children’s room in phase 2 is complete, this area will be used for reference and provide comfortable adult seating.
