Scenes From Flags, Books and Bands

Several hundred people turned out today for Flags, Books and Bands, supporting the idea for a veteran’s memorial in Honeoye Falls and the new Mendon Public Library. Here are some pictures of what happened, with thanks to everyone who organized, volunteered for, sponsored, and attended the event.

Our veterans led the way to Flags, Books and Bands after marching in various parades all morning. We owe them a great debt.

Ruth Hayes (back left) and another event volunteer help Anna Young (front left) and daughter Danielle select a duck for the race.

Don Majewski, who shot the "fallin' in" photos, enjoys a light moment. The awesome mural was done by Rachael Hochadell.

Mayor Rick Milne and event founder Craig Moffit enthusiastically distribute back-supporting prizes donated by Dr. David Redding, chiropractor. Thank you to the many local businesses that supported the event through sponsorships and prize donations.

A wonderful day full of Family, Community and generosity. Can’t wait to see more photos in the near future. We will build a Veteran’s Memorial in the future under the guidance of Legion Post,664 and the Village of Honeoye Falls, NY.

What an awesome event! It was so great to see so many people enjoying themselves for two great causes! We are very fortunate to have so many local businesses that are so supportive of our community. My hat’s off to the many fine volunteers that put this event together.

Memorial Day events were happening all over this grand land….and thanks to many who helped to create the little gathering at Rotary Park. Definitely a ‘felt that lump in my throat’ day.
