‘Firsts’ Marked on Library’s Opening Day

Bruce Peckham was the first in line to enter the new Mendon Public Library, which opened to the public at 9 a.m. this morning (June 27) in its new building at 22 N. Main St., Honeoye Falls. Treasurer of the library’s board of trustees, Peckham also joyfully checked out the first book.

Peckham is one of many celebrating other “firsts” brought by the opening of the new 7,300-square-foot building. Today, for the first time ever, Mendon Public Library is fully compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act. Today, for the first time in years, the library has both the space and the shelves to put out its entire collection at one time.
