Monroe St. Sidewalk Best Pedestrian Access to Library for Now

Submitted by Denise Dickenson, secretary of the Mendon Public Library board of trustees

This sidewalk runs from Monroe St. to the front of the new library, starting just west of the white historic 1936 library. This brand-new walk is level, and lit in the evenings.

What? You don’t drive to the library?

For those of you who walk to the new library, are you finding it a bit difficult to negotiate the driveway from N. Main Street? Well, until the sidewalk from the library to N. Main Street is completed, the very best way to access the library by foot is off Monroe Street. There’s a brand new sidewalk on the west side of the original library–you know, the white building with its trademark red door.

So, the next time you need to–or want to–walk to our beautiful new Mendon Public Library, take a stroll down the sidewalk off Monroe Street.  And if you are walking in the evening, lights illuminate your path!

The sidewalk to N. Main Street is currently unfinished, pending receipt of a grant to complete the necessary work. Until then, feel free to use the inviting, lit path to the new library from the Monroe Street.
