‘Tour’ Phase 2 When You Shop the Book Sale

Philip Grosjean (left) and Charlie Johnson hung the signs denoting the special areas planned for the renovation of the old library, phase 2 of the new Mendon Public LIbrary project.

When you come shop the Friends of Mendon Public Library’s book sale this weekend and next, you also can take a “tour” of the proposed phase 2 of the new Mendon Library. Check out the goldenrod signs saying “Future Red Door Children’s Library,” “Future Meeting Room,” “Future Teen Area” and “Future Connection Hall to New Library” to get an idea of where in the planned renovation of the old library these areas would be. A special area for teens (a safe harbor for them when school’s not in session), the children’s room in the historic library with the red door ,and a community meeting room with a separate entrance are all part of the plan.

Phase 2 is entirely dependent on private dollars, however. So if you haven’t given to the Heart of our Town capital campaign, please donate today! You can download a pledge form and an engraved brick order form–or pick them up at the sale. Here are the open hours:

4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thurs. Oct. 27: Friends members-only sale (Join at the door!)
9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fri, Oct. 28: Public sale
9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sat. Oct. 29: Public sale
