McRae, 10, Donates Savings to Support Young Adult Collection

Ryan McRae was softspoken about his generous gift to Mendon Public Library. Larry Young, president of the Library Board of Trustees, was among the library leaders on hand to thank him.

Ryan McRae, 10, has donated $25 from his savings to support Mendon Public Library’s young adult collection. McRae is a fourth grader at the Honeoye Falls-Lima Manor School.

Asked why he had chosen to make this donation, McRae said simply, “I like reading a lot.”

In follow-up, he added, “I really like the Harry Potter series, Homer’s Odyssey, The Ranger’s Apprentice series and My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George, but any science fiction, sports, mystery or  fantasy is awesome!”

Thank you, Ryan, for your generous gift!
